In game, we organise ourselves as societies (guilds, in other MMOs) - but when you see those weird and wonderful names under the players title as they flash by you on the open sea, do you ever wonder what their society does, who they are, what they're about?
If you're a true roleplayer, it might interest you to be able to look up the backstory of a particular society, but even if you're not - perhaps you're looking for one to join and you want to find one thats not too big, not too small, in the right timezone, and that enjoys doing the same things in game as you.
Problem is - in game, you can't get that information without finding a leader of that society to talk to about it and its not always immediately apparent who they are, or that they're online. So i've built a tool so that leaders of societies can register their presence, enter their backstory, their aims, even their flag and sail colours so that anyone else can view them.
So - if you run a society and you want to share information about it; log into the site today and enter your info.
If you've got an account and your society has been listed, all you need to do to join the group is click on the name of it (from the Society Index) and then select which of your eligible captains will join the group. You can do this more than once for alts.
Note that you'll only be able to put a captain in a society under the same rules as the game itself, that is - he/she must not already be in one, must reside on the same server, be part of the same nation, etc. If you don't see the option, you're not eligible.
Theres no advanced tools yet - no way for leaders to vet who's joining them, or kick people, or manage your internal rank structure - but rest assured, its on my to-do list! For now, assume every detail about your society is public - so don't put anything in the profile you don't want others to see.
