Site Feature: Captain Profiles

So, have you ever wondered why I wrote a login function to this website? Let it bother you no more.

One of the things I have planned for this site is to make it a bit of a social area; somewhere you can get involved in the game when you're not playing it (like, at work!) - so in order to do that, the site needs to know who you are so that it can serve up content specifically for you, when you log in.

In game, we socialise as captains - not as real people; and we can have many identities. To that end, while your account login is 'you' as in .. the real you, I've added 'Captain Profiles' which allows you to set up each of your avatars under your name - other users of the site will see you as one or all of these names, rather than your account name. That will ultimately make more sense to them, especially if you want to identify each other in game, where your captain names are used.

To set up your captain profiles, log into the site and select 'Add/Edit Captain Profiles' - there's a simple form to the right hand side which allows you to specify the level, fighting style, server etc, the basic details each captain needs.

You can't edit them at the moment; but you will be able to soon - to increase your levels or delete old captains. For now, its just a list of who you are 'in game'.

In the future, the plan is for people to be able to find out details (that you want to share) about your avatars, maybe communicate through the site - with things that aren't in game such as buy orders for goods, or economy/group organisation.

For that to work - we need to know about your captains, so go ahead and enter them in!
